Buffalo Township manager to retire by end of 2026

BUFFALO TWP — Township manager Rich Hill intends to retire from his position by the end of 2026.

The news was announced during the monthly board of supervisors meeting on Wednesday night, May 13.

According to township Supervisor Ron Zampogna, the matter of Hill’s impending retirement has been discussed internally within the township for some time.

“We’ve had some internal discussions for a couple months,” Zampogna said. “Mr. Hill is looking to retire and will hopefully finish the year off with us. If we can find a suitable replacement, he will hopefully walk them through and then get them started here before he does send off.”

“I’m just ready to retire,” Hill said. “After 45 years of working, I’m ready to retire.”

Hill was first hired as Buffalo Township’s manager in February 2022. Prior to his appointment, he served as a part-time manager for Harrison Township in Allegheny County for a four-year period.

The township will begin advertising through its website, as well as through local papers, for candidates to serve as new township manager.

“We’re just starting the process now, so hopefully we can get a candidate in place,” Hill said.
