Steve A. Gornick
Steve A. Gornick, 85, of Erie, formerly of Penn Township, passed away Wednesday surrounded by his beloved family.
Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Orloff) Gornick; two brothers, Marcus and Anthony; and two sisters, Mary and Margaret.
He is survived by his two daughters, Alethea (David) Cassidy and Elaine (Thomas) Rosselot; four grandchildren, Janelle (Raj) Rosselot, Christopher (Genevieve) Rosselot, and Kellen and Brett Cassidy; two great-grandchildren, Vivian Rosselot and Faye Patel; three sisters, Anne Nannery of San Francisco, Calif., Agnes Hilderbrand of Chicora and Frances Seinicki of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
Steve honorably served in the U.S. Air Corps during World War II in the China-Burma-India Theatre. While stationed in India, serving with the First Air Commando Group, he directed support as a flight and ground engineer specialist.
Upon returning from his military service, Steve relocated to Erie, where he was a mechanical and electrical engineer for General Electric, as well as the Electric Materials Co. of North East, Pa., where he retired.
Steve was dedicated to his family and friends, and was a long time member of the Erie Maennerchor Club and the Lawrence Park Golf Club.
Steve also greatly enjoyed the outdoors. In addition to being an avid hunter, Steve enjoyed canoeing, hiking and cross country skiing.
