Red Apple nominations accepted

Nomination forms are available for the Red Apple Awards, which go to teachers.

The awards are given to a teacher from each of the seven school districts in the county and the Butler County Vo-Tech. A ninth award is given to an instructor or professor at either Butler County Community College or Slippery Rock University.

The award is given to those who show outstanding dedication to students, leadership among peers, and a commitment to the community.

Nominations may be made by parents, students, peers, administrators or businesses.

The United Way of Butler County, Armstrong and Pennsylvania State Education Association will present the fourth annual Red Apple Awards this summer.

Awardees will be announced in May and honored at the Leadership Graduation and United Way of Butler County annual breakfast meeting at 7:30 a.m. June 7 at Founders Hall at BC3. Winners will received a marble apple and the school will receive a plaque.

The deadline for applications is April 20.

For information, call Kathleen Treme at 724-285-2260 at the United Way.
