Police crack down on drunken drivingStarting Friday and running through Labor Day weekend, state police in Butler and surrounding counties will be cracking down on drunken driving during the annual “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.The national campaign of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is designed to get impaired drivers off the roads.Between Friday and Sept. 5, patrol officers in Troop D will do this campaign in Butler, Armstrong, Beaver, Mercer and Lawrence counties.

Neighborhood Night set at playgroundA Neighborhood Night at Institute Hill Playground is planned for 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 26 by the Butler Rotary Club and the City of Butler.Live entertainment will be provided, and hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones and drinks will be sold. A fire truck will be on display, and the Butler Humane Society will have a petting zoo.The event is open to anyone, even those who don’t live in that area.
