The Butler Junior High boys and girls track and field teams took second place out of 10 teams at the Seneca Valley Relay Invitational recently.
First-place finishes for the girls came from Lexis Frost, Paige Rittelmann and Jennifer Barry in the long jump, Joclyn Duttry, Ava Bonetti and Jenna Horniacek in the discus, Amber Zanella, Mackenzie Calhoun and Becky Arturo in the pole vault.
The boys tallied 82 points in the meet. First-place finishes went to Mike McPherson, Matt Cole and Cole Campbell in the shot put, Alex Yonker, Jacob Alston and Jared Evelhoch in the long jump.
The Golden Tornado's sprint relay team of Evan Parke, Patrick Lokhaiser, Dakoda Collins and Carlos Sanchez, along with the 800-meter relay team of Jeremy Taggart, Collins, Sanchez and Yonker, earned first-place finishes as well.
Both Butler teams conclude their seasons today at the North Allegheny Invitational.
The North Pittsburgh Basketball Club's eighth-grade AAU team finished fourth at the King James Shooting Stars Classic in Akron, Ohio, recently. A field of 64 teams competed.North Pittsburgh won six of seven games at the tournament and has an overall record of 27-1. Butler eighth-grader Nate Snodgrass is the team's point guard.
