ZELIENOPLE — “Sip. Munch. Jam.” is the mantra for this weekend’s Zelie on Tap.

The Zelienople Community Park and The Zelienople Area Public Library are hosting the beer tasting and music festival, formerly known as “On Tap and Unplugged,” at the park on Saturday.

“This year, it will all be happening at once,” parks organizer Jen Semel said. “Three years ago, it was beer tasting and then culminated with a concert. This year, we wanted to incorporate the music with the beer tasting to be more festive.”

The event will be split into two sections, the first from 3 to 6 p.m. and the second from 7 to 10 p.m.

Eighteen brewers will be in attendance. Food vendors will also attend.

Musical guests include Renegade Roosters, Dizzy Woosh, Noble Hops Band and Bastard Bearded Irishmen from 8 to 10 p.m.

Semel and fellow organizer Debie Carbau said the event is aiming for 325 people for each session.

Semel said the event’s placement as part of the Zelienople Country Fall Festival should be advantageous compared to the past.

Proceeds will benefit the new pool construction fund at the park and the library.

Semel said the new pool’s groundbreaking is aimed for next fall.

Carbau said the idea for the event came from her friendship with Semel.

“We thought maybe we could put something together to show that even though we are two separate entities, we still are coming together for the community,” she said.

She cited the success of Harmony’s annual wine walk as another reason to hold the festival.

“It started as talking and then just blossomed,” Carbau said. “It really has become a community event.”
