BRADYS BEND TWP, Armstrong County — State police are continuing to investigate last week's head-on crash that killed a Karns City High School graduate.

Steven M.K. Bellas 21, of Bradys Bend died Thursday at a Pittsburgh hospital of injuries suffered in the Nov. 22 wreck on Route 68 near Seybertown Road in Bradys Bend Township.

Police said the crash happened about 12:30 p.m., when an eastbound vehicle driven by Heather King, 42, of East Brady crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with Bellas' vehicle, which was traveling west.

Bellas, who was not wearing a seat belt, was flown from the scene by a medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian, where he was pronounced dead.

King, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered suspected serious injuries and was taken to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township, and later flown to UPMC Presbyterian. Her condition was not available Tuesday.

The wreck closed the road for about five hours. The East Brady and Sugarcreek volunteer fire departments and Sugarcreek Ambulance assisted at the scene.

An accident reconstruction team's report is pending, investigating Trooper Joshua Osche said Tuesday.

Osche would not discuss what may have caused the wreck. But he noted that road and weather conditions were not factors.

Bellas was a 2015 graduate of Karns City High School and a 2017 graduate of Pittsburgh Technical Institute with a degree in criminology. He recently began working at Penn United Technologies in Jefferson Township.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services in East Brady.
