Keystone Safari in Liberty Township welcomed a giant anteater baby Oct. 19, according to a status posted to its Facebook page Wednesday, Nov. 12.
The baby cannot be seen by guests yet, and the gender is still undetermined, but the safari will post updates and photos to its Facebook page and encourages guests to call in or comment with questions.
“Our keeper and veterinary teams are giving mom and baby plenty of quiet bonding time,” the safari said in the post.
The baby will cling to its mother’s back for about a year as it grows and explores its surroundings. The names of the baby’s parents are Helga and Hugo. Helga was raised at the Keystone Safari, according to the post.
