David Lloyd "D.L." Snyder, 89, of North Main Street, Slippery Rock, died at 1 p.m. Thursday at his home.

Born in Butler County, Nov. 11, 1917, he was the son of Otis and Jennie Wigton Snyder.

He served with the Navy Seabees in the Philippines during World War II.

Mr. Snyder was dedicated to helping others in the community and was a "Mr. Fix It" handyman. He loved working and retired in 1982 from Pullman Standard after 39½ years as a fabricator.

He was a member of the First Butler Baptist Church of Butler.

Surviving are his wife, Glenna Mae Brown Snyder, whom he married Jan. 28, 1956; a son and his wife, Dennis E. and Debby Snyder of Grove City; a daughter, Valerie Kay Gaglione of Panama City, Fla.; two brothers, Harry Snyder of Tarentum and Robert Snyder and his wife, Emma, of Mechanicsburg; and three grandchildren, Stephanie, Rebecca and Adam, all of Grove City.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul; and a sister, Alice Dickey.

Snyder, who died Thursday, July 12, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dave Maitland, his church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the Zion at Isle Cemetery, Franklin Township.Memorial contributions may be made to the Slippery Rock Fire Department or the Slippery Rock Rescue Squad.
