Franklin R. Boyd
Franklin Robert Boyd, 50, of Marwood passed away early Monday morning after a very brief battle with lung cancer.
Born May 13, 1956, in Natrona Heights, he was the son of the late Mary Lou (Freehling) and Franklin C. Boyd.
Bob was a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxonburg.
He attended Knoch High School and graduated from Shady Side Academy in 1974. He received a bachelor's degree in economics from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., in 1978.
Bob owned and operated the Freehling Lumber Co. in Marwood with his sister, Rebecca Boyd, after their parents' deaths in 1993.
He was well known for his expertise in the construction field. Many customers sought his advice on building materials and lumber.
Bob was a loved and respected member of his community as well as a good friend to many business associates.
He loved the outdoors, he was an avid hunter, and he was expert at both snow skiing and water skiing. He loved all animals, but particularly his Labrador retrievers, Tootsie and Abby, and his two cats, Boots and Dude.
He is survived by his sister, Rebecca Boyd of Marwood; an aunt, Barbara Cavanaugh of Mantua, Ohio; several cousins; and many, many close friends.
