SRU students protest against mistreatment of minority groups

At a time when the treatment of various groups is getting scrutiny in the news, some SRU students and professors are also looking to speak out.

Around 40 people gathered at the Spotts World Culture Building Wednesday evening for an assembly and march around campus to protest injustice against minority communities.

“We want to talk about different topics of injustice. We’re talking about women’s rights, African American rights,” Ariella Westreich, one of the event organizers, said. “Political apathy is really big right now, especially on this campus. People don’t want to take the time to make change or solve issues. The rights of minorities are under attack right now. It’s time for people to speak up and stand for what’s right.”
