Every October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Rick and Kim Hempfling Memorial Cast Iron Cookoff honors the memory of the loving parents of Rich Hempfling and Ashley Young.
Siblings Hempfling and Young brought families and friends together Saturday, Oct. 11, for the cast iron cookoff on Queen Junction Road to remember their parents. They compete for the coveted trophy, which they joked is a “bigger deal than a Grammy.”
The rules to enter: you must cook something on an open fire in something cast iron.
