Bryan T. Purdum
Bryan T. Purdum of Moon Township passed away Monday.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. Sr. and Margaret "Peggy" Purdum.
He is survived by his siblings, James W. Jr. (Barbara) Purdum, Anne P. (David) Ingram and Dorothy P. (Rick) Measures; many nieces and nephews; maternal aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Ralston Warnock; paternal aunt and uncle, Janice and Lyn Sturdevant; and friend, Susan L. Udvari.
He was a loving brother, uncle and friend to many. He provided a shoulder to lean on for anyone in need.
His passion for flying started at the age of 14, and he obtained his private pilot's license on his 16th birthday. He was the captain of the National Champion Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Flying Team during college.
He had a distinguished 25-year career with US Airways as a captain, first officer and had previously been a check pilot and line check pilot. In addition, he served as a U.S. Department of Homeland Security federal flight deck officer.
He was an avid power boater, motorcycle and high-performance vehicle enthusiast. He previously was the co-owner of Extreme Motor Sports, a custom high-performance motorsports shop. He meticulously built a Shelby Cobra kit car.
He will be sorely missed by all he touched.
<B>PURDUM </B>— Friends of Bryan T. Purdum, who died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Paul L. Henney Memorial Chapel</B>, 5570 Library Road, Bethel Park. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the John McMillan Presbyterian Church, 875 Clifton Road, Bethel Park. Friends are asked to meet at the church.
