Pietz

Margaret M. Pietz, affectionately known as Margie, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026, in Oakmont, Pa., at the age of 96.

Born Oct. 12, 1929, in Pittsburgh, Margaret lived a long and meaningful life centered on family, faith, friendship and community. She spent time raising her family in Saxonburg, where she enjoyed farm life and nature. Later, she spent time in Brunswick, Maine, before returning to Western Pennsylvania.

She enjoyed cooking and was an active member of the Garden Club of Oakmont. She volunteered with the Oakmont Historical Society, giving her time to preserve and celebrate the history of the community she loved.

Family was at the heart of Margaret’s life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She is survived by her sister, Betty Rudy; her children, Julie (Scott) Coleman, Jim (Yaimi) Pietz, Mark (Sandy) Pietz and Harry (Maria) Pietz; her daughter-in-law, Maryanne Bisulca-Pietz; her grandchildren, Matt, Lindsay, Megan, Audrey, Melisa, Melanie, Lara, Marina, Alejandro, Lauren and Wesley; and her great-grandchildren, Margo and Lyla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Guy; son, Wesley Pietz; and her siblings, James McShane, Charles McShane, Sally Schnorr, Leo McShane and Nancy Carothers.

PIETZ — A funeral Mass for Margaret M. Pietz, who died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at St. Paul Cathedral, 108 N. Dithridge St., Pittsburgh.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bede School, 6920 Edgerton Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15208, 412-661-9425.
