Larry Dale Evans, 72, of Richland Township died Sunday in Prospect at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James (Connie) Eck, where his family had been caring for him following an illness.

He was the husband of the late Lois Jean (Kohser) Evans.

He was born April 30, 1938, in Huntingdon and was the son of Manuel and Lois Jean (Holly) Evans.

Mr. Evans was a heavy equipment operator and was a 40-year honoree with the Operating Engineers Local Union 66.

He was a Korean War veteran who served in the U.S. Army, and he was a life member of VFW Post 9199, Shaler.

Mr. Evans enjoyed car cruises, riding his motorcycles, pitching horseshoes, gardening and taking care of his yard. He loved attending his grandchildren's activities.

He is survived by four children, L. Dean (Peggy) Evans, Connie (James) Eck, Dwayne (Kim) Evans and Cindy (Michael) Stagel; grandchildren, Crystal (Chad), Ryan, Blake, Ross, Mackenzie, Emma and Adin; great-granddaughter, Paige; brothers, Butch (Mercy) and Rodney Evans; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Jean (Kohser) Evans, who died March 10, 1990, and a sister, Diane Wilhelm.

<B>EVANS</B> — Visitation for Larry Dale Evans, who died Sunday, May 2, 2010, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at <B>Herbert R. King Jr. Funeral Home</B>, 2841 Woodland Circle, Allison Park, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. David Clawson officiating.
