Man charged with erratic driving while delivering narcotics with child in car
A search of a Pittsburgh man pulled over for alleged erratic driving with a child in the car without a seat belt uncovered heroin, police said.
Edward C. Kelso Jr., 39, was charged with one felony count each of possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute and controlled substance possession; two misdemeanor counts of drug paraphernalia possession; and one misdemeanor count each of child endangerment and marijuana possession following a Friday, May 9 traffic stop in Summit Township.
State police said Kelso was spotted illegally passing another vehicle and swerving before the traffic stop. Police said Kelso showed signs of impairment.
Police seized four bricks of heroin, a package of marijuana, two cellphones and $132 from Kelso. He told police he uses the vehicle to drive from Pittsburgh to Butler to deliver narcotics every other day.
Police said a 4-year-old juvenile was in the rear of the vehicle without a seat belt.
Kelso’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. May 20 before District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
