Freeport board changes meetings
BUFFALO TWP — Freeport School Board members like Wednesdays better than Thursdays.
The board on Thursday voted to switch back to Wednesday meetings instead of Thursdays.
Beginning in September, the board again will meet at 7:30 p.m. on the first and second Wednesday of the month at the high school.
Dan Lucovich, board president, said in an interview there were too many conflicts for members on Thursday evenings.
He said many district activities occur on Thursdays.
New entrance
The board awarded a $17,500 contract to A.G. Mauro of Pittsburgh to install new doors at the student entrance to the high school facing the new sports stadium.
“It’s more durable glass,” Lucovich said of the new doors which will provide improved security.
Lucovich said the current doors date back to the 1960s.
New administrator
The board hired Patrick Scott as the new assistant principal at the high school.
Scott, who was an assistant principal in the Woodland Hills School District, will be paid an annual salary of $75,000.
He succeeds Daniel Consuegra, who left for a job in another school district.
