Grace M. Shanafelt, 70, of Fenelton died at 10:45 a.m. Thursday at her home after a long illness.

Born in Fenelton, June 2, 1937, she was the daughter of James and Dorothy Flick Swain.

She had worked at Hutchinson's Cleaners for more than 20 years and retired July 25, 1997.

Surviving are her companion of 19 years, Donald Schlagel; two daughters, Mrs. John (Ann) Slomer and Mrs. Carl (Mary Lou) Schmidt, both of Fenelton; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A brother, John Swain of Butler, also survives.

Her husband. Larry Shanafelt, whom she married June 28, 1956, died Sept. 24, 1988. She also was preceded in death by two half-brothers.

Shanafelt, who died Thursday, July 12, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E, Slippery Rock St. Chicora. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark A. Wallace, pastor of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Chicora, officiating. Burial will be at the Worthington Lutheran Cemetery.
