Wednesday — Police arrested a Bucks County man on charges he harassed and allegedly threatened to kill his estranged wife's boyfriend four months ago, according to court documents.Lawrence R. Rhoades, 26, of Bristol was arrested on a warrant issued to Butler police Feb. 23. He was arraigned on charges of stalking, terroristic threats, conspiracy and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.The charges stemmed from threats to kill Jeffrey Winters and blow up Winters' Mercer Street home that Rhoades allegedly made on the Internet.Winters between December and February had filed four prior harassment complaints against the defendant

Wednesday — Police are warning residents about a possible door-to-door magazine sales scam.The magazine solicitations are being made in the Zelienople and Cranberry Township areas by representatives of "FloRd Agency," a police news release said."We strongly suggest you do not make any purchases from the company (based in Delray Beach, Fla.) due to numerous complaints regarding the company's questionable business practices," the police advisory said. "Several individuals have purchased magazine subscriptions and never received the magazines ordered."Police noted all solicitors in Zelienople must have a borough-issued permit, which should be available for residents to inspect upon request.

6:30 p.m. Tuesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Bradley Bell, no age given, of Cranberry Township and a tow truck driven by Randy Jorgensen, no age given, of Beaver Falls, Beaver County collided on Route 68.The truck and a vehicle it was towing, after the collision, struck and went over a guardrail, and hit a tree.Jorgensen was flown by medical helicopter with unspecified injuries to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. A passenger in the truck, who police did not identify, was treated for a minor injury at UPMC Passavant Cranberry.Preliminary findings showed the crash occurred as Bell was making a U-turn. Jorgensen swerved his truck but was unable to avoid the collision.Still, investigators credited Jorgensen for minimizing the impact of the crash by making the "evasive maneuver," according to a police news release. The investigation continues.
