Mexican restaurant moves into bigger site
BUTLER TWP — Reynaldo Palacios, owner of Butler's Rey Azteca, plans a special opening Thursday at his new location in the Pointe Plaza along New Castle Road.
“We wanted to give more comfort to our customers,” he said. “A bigger place.”
The restaurant's grand opening will start at 11 a.m.
Palacios said a mariachi band will perform while customers eat from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
“We are going to have a special, but I want it to surprise my customers,” he said.
Palacios said customers should feel comfortable with the new location because it will be the same menu, staff, hours and prices. He said the biggest differences between the former location at 255 New Castle Road, is more space and the liquor license posted on the front window.
Palacios said customers have asked about alcoholic beverages for years, and some went elsewhere, even out of the county, to find a Mexican restaurant that sold the drinks. He said this drove him to pursue the license in the first place.
“Because I want to keep the money in Butler,” he said. “Now they don't have to travel miles to get a Mexican drink.”
Palacios said the new license is his latest goal to improve his business.
“A lot of people like to mix hot (food) with a Mexican beer,” he said. “That is something I dream to have.”
Palacios, a native of Estado de Hidalgo, Mexico, moved to Butler 15 years ago with a dream of providing authentic Mexican food to the people of Butler.
“It was hard,” he said. “It was a new experience.”
Palacios settled his business into its original location, which he will keep open for lunch and dinner while negotiating to purchase the property.
He said Butler has been the perfect place to develop his business.
“There was no authentic Mexican food around when we began here,” Palacios said.
He said his family, friends and a few faithful employees have made success possible.
“There was a lot of sacrifice for me and my family and my crew,” he said.
But his customers also are special to him and have supported the growth of his business.
“They're the best,” Palacios said. “We know what they eat. What they drink. They love us, and we love them.”
He feels like he's taking the next step.
“Everywhere I go, I find my customers, and they congratulate me on what I'm doing,” Palacios said. “I'm very happy about it.”
