Allen B. "Butch" Shakley, 54, of Petrolia died at 6:55 a.m. Tuesday at the Chicora Medical Center after being ill since Dec. 4, 2006.

Born at the family home in Petrolia, April 14, 1952, he was a son of Harry R. "Harvey" Shakley, who died Feb. 21, 1978, and Garnet Jane Shoup Shakley, who died July 1, 1997.

He was a lifelong member of the Petrolia Presbyterian Church, where he was an offering assistant.

Mr. Shakley was a 1973 graduate of the Clarence Brown Education Center in Butler.

He was a life member of the Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the North Washington Volunteer Fire Department.

He enjoyed watching all shows on TV. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates and his favorite Pirate players were Manny Sanguillen and Willie-on-the-hill Stargell. He also was a NASCAR race fan.

Surviving are three brothers, John Wallace "Wally" Shakley and his wife, Phyllis, of Petrolia, Dean Russell Shakley of Parker and Donald Lee "Tops" Shakley and his wife, Mary, of Chicora; two sisters, Velma Jean "Jeannie" Shakley and Margaret Aileen "Peg" Merryman and her husband, Harry N., all of Petrolia; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

An infant sister, Nancy Jane Shakley, died Feb. 20, 1933.

<B>SHAKLEY </B>— Friends of Allen B. "Butch" Shakley, who died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Richard d. Hillis funeral Home</B>, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia.Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Petrolia Presbyterian Church, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Rowe, retired pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.Memorial donations may be made to the Petrolia Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 107 S. Argyle St., Petrolia, PA 16050.
