CRANBERRY TWP — Officials with the Victory Family Church are warning people about a scam in which a man is reportedly soliciting donations for a fake mission trip.

The church said the man, who claims to attend the church, has been contacting people in neighborhoods in the Cranberry area.

“Multiple accounts have been reported to the church and to local authorities,” said Kathy Spencer with the church in a news release. “This is not a Victory Family Church supported mission experience and should be treated as a scam.”

Spencer said that Victory does not solicit donations for mission trips through door-to-door campaigns, and urged anyone contacted by the man to report the incident to authorities.

She also said the man claims to be from missionary group Inca Link and uses paperwork copied from the group. She said the church has contacted Inca Link representatives, who deny the man is involved with the group.
