Larry Montgomery

Montgomery

Larry Eugene Montgomery, 73, of Fenelton, was called to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 19, 2024.

He was born on Jan. 25, 1951, in Butler, to the late Eugene and Ruth (Dick) Montgomery.

He was a Butler High School graduate, Class of 1969. He was the “telephone man” who enjoyed working at Century Link, until he retired in 2016.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed not only hunting and fishing but also working in the yard and helping his wife in their extensive garden. He may never have bagged the biggest buck, but he sure could grow a pepper.

He did a great deal of woodworking, doing projects at the house, and building furniture and other projects.

He was a friend to all, a true family man. With a heart for service, he was always willing to lend a hand to anyone that needed it. Whether it be fixing a phone, unloading hay, or taking someone to a doctor’s appointment, Larry was the guy to call.

“People person” as he was, he always appreciated visits from friends, neighbors and co-workers. He always made time for a chat.

He married the love of his life, Donna (Kramer) on June 3, 1972. Together they raised four children, Jeffrey (fiancée, Denise Lemchak), Joseph, Jennifer (John Sanders) and Justin (Hope). His eyes got an extra twinkle when in the presence of his grandchildren, Janie and Mabel (Sanders), and Lily and Harold (Montgomery). He cherished visits from each of them.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Boyer.

MONTGOMERY — There will not be a public visitation for Larry Eugene Montgomery, who died Monday, Feb. 19, 2024.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, 210 St. Wendelin Road, Butler.
