SRU world languages and cultures
At Slippery Rock University, local high school students were given the opportunity to interact with cultures from a world away while exploring ways to learn more about them.
Over 400 students from 26 regional schools participated in SRU’s 2026 world languages and cultures competition Tuesday morning, Oct. 13.
The workshops and presentations provided students with opportunities to engage with Arabic, Japanese and other languages through interactive activities. A “Discovery Quest” featured cultural activities and informational stations designed to encourage students to learn through exploration and interaction.
The world languages & cultures competition highlights the importance of language learning and intercultural understanding while introducing high school students to the academic and community opportunities available at Slippery Rock University.
