Carl Feiereisen
Carl Joe Feiereisen, 75, of Boyers, peacefully passed away while surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, under the care of the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center.
Born Jan. 7, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was the son of the late Richard Feiereisen and the late Mardene (Wood) Roloff.
Carl was a graduate of Vinton High School and then went on to attend the University of Northern Iowa for one year until he was drafted by the U.S. Army. He served his country honorably in the Army, serving two tours in Vietnam and over 24 years. He retired as an E-8 master sergeant. After his service in the Army, Carl went to work for Home Depot for 20 plus years.
If you knew Carl at all you knew he never sat still. While he worked full-time he also passionately officiated for the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) for over 25 plus years. When he was no longer able to run up and down the courts, he dedicated his service and time working logistics for the CIAA basketball tournament for over two decades more. As if that wasn’t enough, he still found time to serve as the Venango Township supervisor as well. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but more than anything, loved to talk away the day with his family and friends. There wasn’t a person he met that he didn’t befriend.
Carl is survived by his children, Tawnya Evans of Melbourne, Fla., John Feiereisen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Alan Rock of Williamsburg, Va. and Jason Rock of Newport News, Va.; six grandchildren, Alex Rock, Chase Akmal, Alan Rock Jr., Xiomara Evans, Katalaya Evans and Atalia Evans; his sister, Diana Feiereisen of Waterloo, Iowa; a niece, Bethany Daly; and a nephew, Jeffrey Lightfoot.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie, who passed away on Sept. 27, 2017; his brother, Richard; and his sister, Cindy.
FEIEREISEN — A memorial service to celebrate the life of Carl Joe Feiereisen, who died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler. Immediately following the ceremony will be a celebration of life/repast location to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, Carl would have preferred donations be given to the Fisher House. The Fisher House Foundation builds comfort homes where military and veteran families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital. These homes are located at military and VA medical centers around the world, “because A FAMILY’S LOVE is good medicine.” https://connect.fisherhouse.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donate.event&eventID=1
