Chadwick Boseman’s brothers accuse his widow of mismanaging estate
NEW YORK — Chadwick Boseman’s family is accusing the actor’s widow of mismanaging his estate and want her removed as its administrator.
The beloved Oscar nominee was just 43 in August 2020, when he died in testate, meaning without a will, following a private battle with colon cancer.
After repeated appeals to Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman, Kevin and Derrick Boseman on Friday asked a Los Angeles court to hold their sister-in-law in contempt for not abiding by a 2022 court order pertaining to the estate, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
The family also wants the court to remove Taylor as the estate’s administrator and stop her dragging out the distribution of more than $3 million in remaining assets. Those include but are not limited to residuals and royalties from Boseman’s productions, as well as insurance policies, personal belongings, unclaimed property and his image.
Should the court oblige the family’s request to remove Taylor, they hope attorney Jason Rubin will serve as administrator instead.
A 2022 court order split Boseman’s estate down the middle, half of which would be for his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman, and the other half for his parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman.
The family wants to ensure they have right of first refusal for any forthcoming contracts involving their late brother’s estate, and they want a full accounting of the estate within a month. Taylor, they hope, will also be ordered to pay their legal fees.

NEW YORK — It was the 11-minute performance heard around the world. Madonna, Justin Bieber, BTS and Shakira each brought abridged hits to the World Cup’s first halftime show in a whirlwind performance Sunday just outside New York. And it has resulted in some noteworthy streaming bumps.
Luminate, the industry data and analytics company that provides insight into changing behaviors across music listenership, examined streams of each song performed by each musician two days before the final (Friday and Saturday) and compared those figures to the final and the day afterward (Sunday and Monday.)
They found:
- Global streams of Justin Bieber's “Everything Hallelujah” more than doubled, rising 110% from 592,000 streams to 1.25 million.
- Global streams of Madonna's “Music” rose 66%, from 193,000 streams to 321,000.
- BTS' “Dynamite” also grew in terms of global streams, from 2.14 million to 3.05 million for an increase of 43%.
- And Shakira and Burna Boy's official anthem for the 2026 World Cup, “Dai Dai,” also saw a slight bump for an addition of 3.48 million new global streams. That's a 24% increase, from 14.78 million to 18.27 million. In the U.S. alone, streams of “Dai Dai” rose 52%, from 1.68 million streams to 2.55 million.
Luminate also found that the aforementioned artists only saw considerable jumps in the songs they performed on the field last weekend as opposed to their full catalogs. That phenomenon is more common for Super Bowl halftime performers.
Take Bad Bunny for example: After his record-breaking performance this year, streams of his catalog jumped 175% in the U.S. on the day after the Super Bowl, when compared with the previous Monday.

NEW YORK — Savannah Guthrie, Craig Melvin, and Al Roker were all absent from Tuesday morning’s “Today” show broadcast, which comes less than a week after an intruder burst into NBC Studio 1A looking for Roker and ultimately hurling himself, as well as racist slurs, at Melvin.
Guthrie, 54, who was absent for several weeks amid the early February abduction of her elderly mother Nancy, cut last week short ahead of a preplanned weekslong absence to film her upcoming Wordle show.
She announced Monday that 47-year-old Melvin was out for a preplanned “little family vacation,” which co-anchor Willie Geist repeated Tuesday, as he and Sheinelle Jones filled in for Guthrie and Melvin.
Queens-born Roker, 71, for his part, has shared several posts in recent days from adventures in Chicago, where he hosted the Chicago International Film Festival’s Cinema Soiree and visited Wrigley Field.
Dylan Dreyer on Tuesday took over the meteorology report in place of America’s Favorite Weatherman.
“Today” has been making headlines more than usual in recent months, both because of the seemingly stalled investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance as well as last week’s disturbing intruder.
Andrew Truelove, 41, has been charged with hate crimes, burglary and menacing after allegedly sneaking into the Rockefeller Center studio Thursday morning in search of Roker, though he ultimately swung at Melvin, against whom he used a racial slur.
Truelove has also been charged with criminal trespass and harassment in the incident, after which a security guard was ultimately fired.
