Lois Janke
Ms. Lois Jane Curry Janke peacefully passed away on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, at the age of 77, in Orange Beach, Ala.
Lois spent her early years as a talented beautician in the Pittsburgh area, and later together with her late husband, Ron, owned and operated Janke's General Store, a cornerstone of the community in Forestville, Pa. She continued to bring joy and celebration to others by establishing The Party Place in Forestville, and later, Cinderella Servers in Naples, Fla. Her commitment to creating memorable experiences for others shone through in every venture. Lois embraced life's adventures with open arms, spending a transformative year on a houseboat in the Bahamas with her three youngest children.
A woman of deep faith, she was a current member of Woodland Valley Church, Tree of Life Church and a founding member of Allison Park Church in Hampton Township. Her heart overflowed with compassion in all congregations, and Lois served as a warm and welcoming greeter and volunteer, embodying the spirit of community with the Holy Spirit.
Lois found joy in life's simple pleasures, regularly participating in Silver Sneakers, crocheting, painting, playing cards with her Penn Mar friends and leisurely travel. Her love for exploration took her to diverse corners of the world, creating cherished memories along the way.
Lois and Ron's generosity knew no borders, from sponsoring a large family from Laos to come to North America in the 1980s, to helping many friends and families along the way. They fostered unity and belonging within the community. Lois embarked on several mission trips, both independently and with the APC Church family, extending her time and compassion to those in need in Haiti, Honduras and Peru.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion, survived by her seven children, David, Ronald, Jill, Christana, Sarah, Joshua and Brooks.
Lois Janke's spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her, a testament to a life well lived and a soul deeply cherished. May she rest in eternal peace. She will be greatly missed by many.
