Agnes Sheakley
Agnes “Aggie” Mercedes Rodgers Sheakley, 99, of Butler, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, at her residence.
She was born on Jan. 29, 1924, in Donegal Township, to the late Merle Rodgers and the late Gertrude Graham Rodgers.
Aggie graduated from Butler High School. She worked for JCPenney for 27 years, retiring in 1995. Aggie was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. She served lunches at St. Paul schools and was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. Aggie supported her six children's interests and activities. She loved caring for her grandchildren and sewing.
Aggie is survived by one son, Fred (Karen) Sheakley of Butler; four daughters, Barbara (David) Vardy of Butler, Teddi (David) Herman of Mars, Deborah Pazzuto of Butler and Jean (Robert) Bowen of Butler; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ann Hutchison of Pittsburgh.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clinton E. Sheakley, whom she married in November 1942, and who passed away on Aug. 28, 1995; two sons, Ed Sheakley and Robert Sheakley; one grandson, Randy Vardy; one grandson-in-law, Eric Weimer; and her six brothers and sisters.
The family would like to express their gratitude for all the wonderful care that Teresa Wack, Sue Thompson, Amanda Wilson and Linda Rodgers gave.
SHEAKLEY — Friends of Agnes “Aggie” Mercedes Rodgers Sheakley, who died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler, with the Rev. Kevin Fazio officiating.
