Philadelphia man sentenced for camp burglary

A Philadelphia man was sentenced Tuesday to serve up to seven years and five months in prison for stealing several firearms and other property from two camps in Slippery Rock Township last year.

Duane Fuller, 66, was sentenced to serve 36 to 89 months in state prison after pleading guilty to charges of burglary and theft by unlawful taking that state police filed following the July 16, 2022, break-in.

One of the property owners told police he had been away for two days and had allowed Fuller to park a 1967 Pontiac Tempest on his property.

Upon returning, the homeowner reported Fuller and the Pontiac were gone and several items were missing, including a crossbow, Savage 12-gauge shotgun, .32-caliber Winchester special, Hawken flintlock rifle, an old Army rifle, a hatchet, ammunition and a jacket.

A neighboring cabin owner reported a door frame on his cabin was broken and several items were missing, including a fishing reel, drill, handsaw, alarm clock, a United States of America plate, a lamp, an 8-track stereo and record player and a hedge trimmer, police said.

On July 18, police in Warsaw, Ind., found the Pontiac and took Fuller into custody. Police said the vehicle was discovered to be stolen from Bedford, Pa.

The flintlock rifle and jacket from the first residence and all of the items from the second residence were found in the Pontiac, according to police.

Common Pleas Court Judge Joseph Kubit imposed the sentence.
