Robert Ruk
Robert Francis Ruk, 81, of Sarver, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born on Nov. 22, 1942, he was the loving husband of the late Donna Grace (Yetter) Ruk, whom he married on Aug. 17, 1990; the son of the late Casmier Ruk of Natrona Heights and Aldona Misutka of Ford City; brother to the late Marsha (Ruk) Campbell of Ford City; and grandson to the late Frank and Stella Matulewicz of Sarver, who raised him on the family farm, which remained very near and dear to his heart up until his final days.
Bob was a graduate of Knoch High School and a retiree of Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Breckenridge, where he worked as an inspector along the banks of the Allegheny River. In addition, he was a social member of the East Butler Volunteer Fire and Relief Association, Tarentum Elks Lodge 644 and Butler County Pomona Grange 17. He was a talented member of the Blazin’ Blades Scrollers.
A country boy to his core, Bob was proud of his Polish roots and passionate about farming, gardening, scroll sawing, hunting and cutting wood on his sawmill. He also was known to dance the night away to the music of country music bands in the area.
Surviving are his daughter, Renee (Ruk) Hayes and son-in-Law William Hayes, of Mars; and his grandchildren, Stanley, Lindsey and Levi Hayes. Robert’s legacy will live on through a final act of tissue donation with CORE (Center for Organ Recovery and Education).
RUK — Friends and family of Robert Francis Ruk, who died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mary Kitchen officiating.
Interment will follow in Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery.
