Why I stand behind Pa. natural gas
Every dollar counts when you're a small-business owner like me. That’s why we should avoid new taxes on our state’s energy industry.
My business is my passion. Every day, I make my customers’ visions come true by crafting unique iron railings. And while I might make works of art, some parts of owning a small business are less than picture-perfect. Staying ahead on expenses, budgeting and keeping an eye on changing material prices help keep business costs low.
However, as an ironworker, one of my biggest expenses is energy. My railings require a lot of heat to produce. Thus, natural gas is my go-to energy source because it's cheap and easily accessible.
When state legislators favor policies that increase energy costs it hurts all of us. Higher costs for manufacturers mean fewer operating hours and jobs. It also means higher prices at the grocery store and expensive energy bills that hurt bottom lines. In the end, everyone loses. These days, we can’t afford to take any more financial hits.
Now is the time to stand behind small business owners and opportunity in Pennsylvania. That starts by supporting a natural gas industry that keeps energy accessible and affordable.
Sincerely,
Emil Schultz, Middlesex Township
