Patton

William C. Patton, 86, of Countryside Manor in Mercer, formerly of Fredonia and James-town in Mercer County, died at 12:31 p.m. Tuesday at UPMC Horizon, Greenville.

Born in Sandy Lake, Mercer County, Aug. 4, 1920, he was a son of Fred and Florence Murray Patton

He was a graduate of Jamestown High School and retired as a welder at Chicago Bridge & Iron in Greenville after 31 years.

Mr. Patton was a member and former trustee of the Coolspring Presbyterian Church.

During World War II, he was an Army railroad engineer, obtained the rank of a T/5, and he served in Africa, Italy and the Pacific. He was a member of the Reynolds VFW Post 7599.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and cutting wood.

Surviving are his wife, Isabel Little Patton, whom he married Feb. 14, 1947; sons, William Douglas Patton and his wife, Pamela, of Houston, Texas and Thomas L. Patton of Washington, Pa.; a daughter, Claudia Ann Jennings and her husband, John, of Mars; grandchildren, Scott Patton, Beth Machine and John W. and Amy Jennings, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Patton; brothers, Harry, Bert, Ted, Robert and Grant; and sisters, Florence Patton, Gladys Carey, Alice Wright, Thelma Thorpe and Muriel Irwin.

<B>PATTON </B>— Friends of William C. Patton, who died Tuesday, April 16, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Andrew J. Vana Funeral Home</B>, 102 Church St., Hadley, Mercer County. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday. at the funeral home with the Rev. Rev. Philip Chalfant, his church pastor, officiating.
