Childhood memories of milk weed pods
While reading America250: A Journey Through Time, I was taken back to my childhood in the World War II days. We were living in a small town in Tioga County.
Like David Nicklas, we children were collecting milk weed pods. It was great to read that those flying puffs of silk were used for life jackets just like we were told.
We also cut both ends off the tin cans and flattened those and the school collected them.
I still have my ration books and a blue and a red token. I will add the milkweed article to my scrapbook.
