Butler woman charged with mail theft

A Butler woman was charged for allegedly stealing cash from mail while she worked as a rural postal carrier in Chicora.

Kelly Randolph, 44, was indicted Tuesday, Oct. 17, by a federal grand jury on a felony count of theft of mail by an officer or employee for allegedly taking cash from an envelope that was intended to be sent through the mail. The theft happened April 18, while she worked as a rural carrier for the Chicora Post Office, according to U.S. Attorney Eric Olshan.

She faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
