CHERRY TWP — Moniteau High School football fans will sit for another season on the current stadium bleachers because new ones won’t be ready until next year.

Replacing the bleachers and stairs and addressing stormwater runoff under the seats were the focus of a request for proposals that the school board approved Monday night.

“We’re spending a lot of money. We want to do it right,” said Michael Panza, chairman of the board buildings and grounds committee.

The deadline for proposals is Sept. 20.

The request for proposals was prepared by Senate Engineering Co. of Pittsburgh. The company was awarded a $21,400 contract in February to develop the project’s scope of work.

Panza expects the work to be done between November and June 1, 2017.

“You want to give the contractors enough time to do the job,” Panza said.

“We have to work around all the sports schedules (at the school) and community activities,” he said.

Superintendent George Svolos said the bleachers have been inspected and are safe for this football season.
