Oscar R. Fredette

Oscar R. Fredette, 84, formerly of Butler, died Thursday at the Provident Care Center in Beaver Falls.

He was born March 5, 1926, in Lowell, Mass., a son of the late Joseph and Blanche Richard Fredette.

Oscar was the retired owner and operator of Oscar's Business Machines on West Jefferson Street in Butler, now Boory's Office Machines. He and his wife ran the business for many years until he retired in 1982.

He was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora. He was also a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, the Order of Alhambra, and a past trustee of the Butler Moose Club and the Elks Club. Oscar also was a former member of the French & Belgium Club, the Eagles Club, the Slovak Club, the R.C. Men's Club, the United Commercial Travelers, the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, the National Office Machine Dealers Association and the Latin-American Beneficial Society in Ford City.

Oscar's wife, Phyllis Chamberlain Fredette, who he married Nov. 1, 1947, preceded him in death on May 3 of this year.

Surviving are three daughters, Lillian L. Kemper of Daphne, Ala., Jeanne M. Kemper of Lyndora and Mary C. Stover of Minneapolis, Kan.; eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

<B>FREDETTE </B>— There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass for Oscar R. Fredette, who died Thursday, May 13, 2010, was held May 15 at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church. Inurnment took place at Calvary Cemetery.Cremation services were provided by the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B> in Butler. Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
