Clinton W. "Coonie" Evans, 81, of Zelienople died Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 13, 1925, in Harmony, he was the son of Clinton R. and Hazel Zinkham Evans

He was a World War II Navy veteran and served in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean.

Mr. Evans was a lineman and later a foreman for the former Pennsylvania Power Co. and retired in 1987 after 39 years.

He was a member of the Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the Zelienople American Legion Post 474, the Harmony Lodge 429 F&AM and the Scottish Rite Consistory of New Castle, where he was a member of the Legion of Honor.

He was well known in local amateur baseball, both as a player in the Butler County Eagle League and later as a successful Little League and Pony League coach in the Zelienople-Harmony Athletic Association.

Mr. Evans had been an avid golfer and hunter.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Buffington Evans whom he married Sept. 27, 1947; a son, Clinton W. "Bill" Evans II and his wife, Louise, of Butler; and beloved granddaughters, Emili L. Evans of Washington, D.C., and Molly E. Evans of Butler. He also is survived by a sister, Shirley Dinter of Harmony.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry "Mike" Evans and an infant brother.

<B>EVANS</B> — Friends of Clinton W. "Coonie" Evans, who died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 324 E.
