Mike Kelly facing possible challenger in 2024 GOP primary
A Republican from the Slippery Rock area has created a committee for a campaign to challenge incumbent U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16th, for the Republican Party nomination in the 2024 primary.
Tim Kramer, of Forestville, filed a statement of organization with the Federal Election Commission to create the Tim Kramer for Congress campaign committee.
Kramer, 39, works as the coordinator of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program through the United Way that provides free income tax preparation services to any person or family with an annual income under $50,000. He graduated from Butler County Community College, according to published reports.
Kelly has been in office since 2011. He defeated Erie Democrat Dan Pastore last year.
Preston Nouri, a Democrat living in Philadelphia, also has declared his candidacy. He has filed a statement of candidacy and a statement of organization with the commission.
According to the commission, Kelly’s campaign has $1,045,061 in cash, Preston’s has $79,501 and Kramer’s hasn’t reported any cash, receipts or disbursements, as of the last reporting period that ended June 30.
