18-year-old accused of armed robbery, police said Wednesday
An 18-year-old was accused of taking part in an armed robbery in the city, according charges filed Wednesday, Aug. 16.
Robert L. Collins, of New Kensington, was charged with felonies criminal conspiracy, robbery and aggravated assault and misdemeanor terroristic threats after he and a juvenile entered a McClain Avenue home unannounced and took an iPhone from someone.
Police said between 7 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, Collins and the juvenile entered the residence without an invitation and encountered two other people. The juvenile suggested the group “hang out” in the upstairs bedroom, according to documents.
Once the group ascended the stairs, police said Collins and the juvenile pulled out handguns, demanded people empty their pockets and threatened to pistol whip them.
One person surrendered an iPhone 13, which the juvenile reset to use for himself, documents showed, before he and Collins then left the residence.
Collin’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled, and the juvenile involved in the case has not yet been charged or identified.
