A Butler man is accused of stealing more than $14,000 in tools from a construction company’s work truck, according to Butler police.

Zachary James Detrick, 23, was charged Wednesday, Aug. 5, with felony theft following an incident from March 21.

Police said an employee of Sharrer Roofing and Construction parked the work truck in the business’ driveway overnight and came out in the morning to find tools and other items missing from the truck’s bed. The estimated value of the tools was $14,450.

Police said Detrick could be seen on a camera taking the items from the vehicle, and Detrick admitted to assisting with the theft the following day.

Detrick’s preliminary hearing has yet to be scheduled.
