Georgia McCollough
Georgia G. "Gwen" McCollough, 94, of the Orchard Nursing Home in Granville, N.Y., formerly of Butler and Chicora, died Monday in New York.
Born in Pittsburgh, May 19, 1913, she was the daughter of Frank K. and Georgia Thompson Geissinger
She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, painting and gardening.
Mrs. McCollough, a graduate of Allegheny High School, had attended art classes at Butler County Community College for teacher's assistants and had been a teacher's aide at the Clarence Brown School.
In her younger years, she was a member of and attended the First Lutheran Church, now Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, in Chicora.
Surviving are a son, G. Grant McCollough and his spouse, Jayne, of Connoquenessing; a daughter, Ruth Dweck and her spouse, Dr. Edward Dweck, of Saratoga, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Malene Thompson and Tim, Jeanne Katz Maxbauer and Leo, Ami Coleman Goldstein and Barry, Steven Dweck and, Laine, Lisa Cummings and Robert, Grant McCollough and Sandy and Tamara Klein and David; nine great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Sarah Coleman, Jonathan, Erica and Stephanie Katz, Emily and Aaron Dweck and Hunter and Alexis McCollough; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She married Ray R. McCollough May 18, 1935. He died Feb. 13, 1994. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Geissinger, and two sisters, Ruth Litner and Catherine Sirney.
<B>MCCOLLOUGH </B>— Friends of Georgia G. "Gwen" McCollough, who died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME,</B> 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Higgins, pastor of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Hillview Cemetery, Kepples Corners.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Special Olympics, 129 Highfield Road, Butler, PA 16001.
