Ross

Eugene A. Ross, 76, of Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County, died at 7:19 p.m. Wed-nesday while in the company of family members at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Harrison Township, Allegheny County.

Born in Freeport, Dec. 9, 1931, he was the son of Paul R. and Jeannette Raite Ross.

He was a member of the Allegheny Presbyterian Church in Allegheny Township, where he was a member for more than 50 years and served as a deacon for many years.

Mr. Ross served in the Air Force during the Korean War. When he returned from his service, he was a diesel journeyman mechanic at Beckwith Machinery, Murrysville, for 34 years. He retired in 1992.

He was a member of the F&AM Armstrong Lodge 239. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed woodworking, traveling and going on gambling trips with his wife. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and was very involved with the maintenance and upkeep at his church. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren.He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Cooper Ross; two sons, Paul E. (Sandra) Ross of Buffalo Township and Shawn E. (Teresa) Ross of Allegheny Township; three daughters, Sandra K. (Thomas) Sterger of Webster, Wis., Patti J. (Bruce) Vasey of Butler Township and Kim (Bruce) Sproull of Allegheny Township; and a sister, Eunice E. (Robert) Schwietering of Colonia, N.J. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Ronald J., Kandee E. and Sally A. Normandin, Kristen M. and Natalie J. Ross, Zachary M. and Olivia J. Vasey and Dalton A. and Mason A. Ross.He is preceded in death by three brothers, Jack S., Paul R. Jr. and William E. Ross.

<B>ROSS</B> — Friends of Eugene A. Ross, who died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>REDMOND FUNERAL HOME</B>, 524 High St. Freeport. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Allegheny Presbyterian Church, Leechburg, with lay minister, Lloyd Riggle, officiating.
