Albert C. Ithen, 77, of Forest Drive, Grove City, died at 6:40 p.m. May 29 at his home.

Born in Philadelphia, Feb. 9, 1934, he was the son of Albert H. Ithen and Thelma M. Adrian Ithen.

He married Jean A. Mossford on May 2, 1959, and she passed away July 16, 2010.

Al was a financial adviser for 30 years for Ameriprise Financial Services, formerly IDS. Formerly, he owned and operated the Grove City Sports Shop on South Broad Street, Grove City.

He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City.

He was a graduate of Harrisville High School, Class of 1951, and a graduate of Slippery Rock University, majoring in health and physical education. He played on the SRU basketball team, where he lettered all four years, and he also played on the golf team.

Al was a U.S. Army veteran and was stationed in Italy and France.

He was a member of the Grove City Country Club.

Surviving are three children, Tracy L. Miller and her husband, Doug, of Transfer, Christopher R. Ithen and his wife, Joanna L., of Grove City and Albert J. Ithen and his wife, Jodi, of Parker; six grandchildren, Alec Miller, Robbie Miller, Gabriel Ithen, Janoah Sky Ithen and Hannah and Noah Ithen; a sister, Barbara J. Barnes of Butler; and a brother, Geoffrey A. Ithen and his wife, Wendy Fisher, of Maplewood, N.J. Nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
