David R. Kroneberg
David R. Kroneberg, 97, of Cabot died Monday at his home.
Born Nov. 10, 1910, in Marwood, he was the son of Charles and Odessa Maurhoff Kroneberg.
He had been a stationary fireman operator at Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Brackenridge, retiring in 1976 after 42 years.
Mr. Kroneberg was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot.
An Armyveteran of World War II, he served in the African-European and Italian theaters of operation and earned two Battle Stars. He also served in the Pacific.
He was a life member, past commander and post service officer of the Lauter-Falkner Post 683 Saxonburg American Legion. He also was the 26th district deputy commander of the American Legion, serving since 1963, past commander of the Butler County American Legion and a member of Saxonburg VFW Post 7376 and the 40/8 of Butler County.
Dave was a veterans' veteran. He served his fellow veterans with a passion, putting up flags in 16 cemeteries for more than 52 years, was a volunteer at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center and visited veterans in nursing homes.
He also was a member of the White Star Club in Freeport, the Saxonburg Golden Agers and the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Carter Kroneberg, whom he married May 28, 1998; a brother, Alfred Charles Kroneberg Maurhoff of Cabot; his stepchildren, USAFCol. John (Melissa) Carter of Montgomery, Ala., and Mary Carter, Luke (Shelia) Carter, Joe David (Charlena) Carter and Matthew Steven Carter, all of Charlotte; and his step-grandchildren, Hanna and Robert Carter of Montgomery and Camille Harvell of Charlotte.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Martha Petrak Kroneberg, who died in 1996; two brothers, Robert and Frank Kroneberg; and a sister, Esther Bauer.
<B>KRONEBERG</B> — Friends of David R. Kroneberg, who died Monday, March 31, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 West Main St., Saxonburg. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the St. Luke Lutheran Church, Cabot, with the Rev. Barry Keurulainen and Rev. Jason Hoerth officiating.
