Conner

Rosalie Grossman Conner, 78, of Kenton, Ohio, died Monday at the Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, Ohio.

Born July 23, 1929, in Rimersburg, she was the daughter of Charles H. and Retta (Magan) Grossman.

She lived in Butler until her marriage to the Rev. Luther Norris in 1950. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Conner was a writer, musician, chalk artist, performer and storyteller.

She was a lay minister for the Presbyterian Church, an elder at the Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Kenton and was a committee member of the Maumee Valley Presbytery.

She taught school in North Baltimore and was a supervisor for the Home Base program for Head Start for more than 20 years.

She was a member of the Federal Consumers Alliance of Northwest, Ohio, the Victory Gospel Sing Team, the Greater Canton Council of Churches, the JAYS and at one time sang in Carnegie Hall.

Mrs. Conner graduated from Toccoa Falls Academy in Georgia, Findlay University in Ohio and the Master College of Design in Chicago. She also studied at many other colleges and universities.

Surviving are her husband, Edwin Ted Conner, whom she married Feb. 26, 1989; two sons, Luther (Carrie) B. Norris III of Holland, Ohio, and Charles (Pat) N. Norris of Elyria, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Judy (Jim) Hackett of Newport News, Va., and Susan (Ron) Bodnar of Dumfries, Va.; a stepson, Lee Conner of Dumfries, Va.; nine grandchildren, Carly, John, Max, Tim (Kelly) and Ben (Bhumi) Norris, Jake (Jamile), Luke and Mel Bodnar, and Amy (Brian) Ferguson; a nephew, Jerry Friedman of Austin, Texas; and a niece, Judy Friedman of Pittsburgh.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Marion F. Treece, who died in 1988; and a sister, Mildred Friedman Rosenthal.
