Paul Andrew Schmeider Jr., passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, cherished by his family and friends.

Paul was born June 27, 1946, and was the son of Paul Sr. and Dorothy Edwards Schmeider. The oldest of six children, Paul grew up learning the value of family, hard work and responsibility — qualities that remained with him throughout his life.

He graduated from Knoch High School, served his country in the U.S. Army and worked as a welder for Allegheny Ludlum for 40 years.

Paul was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sarver, where his faith and church family were an important part of his life.

Paul was devoted to his wife, Alice (Wiegand) Schmeider, whom he married Nov. 16, 1968. Together, they raised their daughters, Sonya and Amber. His family was at the heart of his life, and he took great pride in the life they built together.

Paul was a man who enjoyed keeping busy and working with his hands. He loved spending time outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, gardening and taking care of the lawn. He also had a love for cars and tractors.

Whether it was a tractor, a household project or something that needed fixing, Paul was always willing to figure out how to make it work.

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his independence, his willingness to lend a hand and his ability to fix just about anything; but most of all, Paul will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and friend.

In addition to his wife and daughters, Paul is survived by his sister, Doris McKinney; one brother, Ray (Pat) Schmeider; one brother-in-law, Dennis Shelton; four sisters-in-law Susan and Marianne Schmeider, Janice (Tony) McElhinny, and Charlene Kreuer; and numerous other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Ruth Ann “Ruby” Kammerer, John Schmeider and Judy Shelton; brothers-in-law Ned Beatty and Vince Kreuer; and his niece, Monica Kreuer.

His hands may no longer be tending the garden, turning a wrench or working on a tractor, but his love, hard work and memories will remain forever.

SCHMEIDER — Visitation for Paul Andrew Schmeider Jr., who died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at FOX FUNERAL HOME in Saxonburg.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sarver, officiated by Pastor Shawn Smith.

Burial to follow at Sarverville Cemetery.
