Ruth W. McFarland, 92, of Butler passed away Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan. 14, 1918, in Wilkes-Barre, the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Habel) Williams.

Ruth enjoyed reading, doing crosswords puzzles and gardening.

Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Peter E. (Judith A.) Connor of Butler; two sons, William R. and Darlyne McFarland of Butler and Michael A. McFarland of Butler; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Carlyle McFarland, who died June 11, 2004; a son, John Timothy McFarland; three grandchildren, Carrie Lynn Connor, Joshua Scott Connor and Michelle Marie McFarland; a sister; and five brothers.

<B>MCFARLAND</B> — Friends of Ruth W. McFarland, who died Monday, May 3, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Curt McDaniel officiating.
