Robert C. Emmett, 96, of Mars died Saturday morning at LAS St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars.

Born April 8, 1915 in Bakerstown, he was the son of the late William R. and Ethel Holmes Emmett.

Bob had worked as a custodian for the Mars School District for 16 years. He also had worked as a steel worker for Spang's and for the Hubbard Milling Co., both in Ambridge.

He was a member of the Mars United Presbyterian Church, the North Hills Lodge 716 F&AM, the Syria Shrine and Consistory, and the Butler Shrine Luncheon Club.

A staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, Bob served with the 283rd Army Air Force Base Unit. He was a member of the Mars American Legion.

Surviving are two daughters, Nancy (Ronald) Nalepa of Petrolia and Mary Emmett of Mars; two brothers, Paul L. (Shirley) Emmett of Zelienople and Norman H. (Florence) Emmett of Ohio Township; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Scott Emmett, who he married on Oct. 19, 1942, and who died on April 8, 1976; two sisters, Elizabeth Meinert and Ruth Higbee; and three brothers, Dale T., Dean and William Emmett.

<B>EMMETT</B> — Friends of Robert C. Emmett, who died Saturday, April 23, 2011, will be received at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Nathan Esser officiating.
