Mary Ellen Callander
Mary Ellen Callander, 87, of Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Sligo, formerly of Dutch Hill, died at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday at Clarion Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Cherry Run, Clarion County, Sept. 3, 1920, she was the daughter of J. Glenn and Mary E. Hawk Thompson.
She was a longtime member and historian of the former Dutch Hill Church of God and remained an active member of the Park Hill Church of God at West Freedom. She was a member of the Women of the Church of God.
Surviving are a daughter, Sue Callander Buzard and her husband, Tom, of Parker; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Larry and Charlotte Jordan Callander of West Freedom, Ned and Jean Conner Callander of Parker and David Callander of Eau Claire; a sister, Alvera Leckliter of Silver Creek, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Ronel Callander, who she married May 25, 1940, died Sept. 4, 2006. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Faye Marie Callander; a grandson, Michael Callander; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Callander; two brothers, Fred and Eugene Thompson; and two sisters, Viola Callander and Leona Courson.
<B>CALLANDER</B> — Friends of Mary Ellen Callander, who died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home</B>, Wayne Street, Parker. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Park Hill Church of God, Lime Plant Road, West Freedom, where services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Mt.
