Betty Lou Dickey
Betty Lou Dickey, 82, of the Sunset Village Retirement Community, Sylvania, Ohio, formerly of Butler, died at 10:10 p.m. Monday at the Sunset Village Retirement Community.
Born Jan. 26, 1927, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Roy L. Schiek and the late Alma Imhoff Schiek.
Mrs. Dickey worked as a registered nurse for Butler Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1981. Previous to that, she had worked as a registered nurse in Kentucky and Kansas.
She was a member of Hill United Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Dickey graduated from Greenville High School in 1945 and the Butler County Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. She was past president of the Butler Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumni, served as an elder and a deacon and was a member of the Women's Association of Hill United Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Dickey was a member of the Maqueda Chapter 421 Order of the Eastern Star and the Butler Assembly 25 International Order of Rainbow for Girls Advisory Board and Counsel.
She also was a Butler Memorial Hospital Association volunteer and a member and past president of the GFWC Intermediate League of Butler.
Mrs. Dickey is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Diane and David Olenic of Butler and Linda and Steven Moore of Toledo, Ohio; one son, Benjamin S. Dickey of Tidioute; two grandsons, Aaron Dickey and Steve Moore; five granddaughters, Julie Skrzyniecki, Angela Dickey, Stephanie Wright, Ashley Holmes and Amanda Holmes; three great-grandchildren, Athena Dickey, Audrey Skrzyniecki and Nathan Dickey; and one niece and one nephew.
Mrs. Dickey was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Benjamin S. Dickey, who passed away April 8, 2001.
<B>DICKEY</B> — A memorial services for Betty Lou Dickey, who died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, at Hill United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Clark Sawyer of Hill United Presbyterian Church officiating.
